Brett Barnello

Brett Barnello currently serves as Chief Supply Officer for AmerCareRoyal and has over 25 years’ experience as a veteran in the food manufacturing and supply chain space. He is responsible for supply chain strategy, global procurement, manufacturing, distribution and transportation, planning, quality, and continuous improvement. Brett oversees ACR’s entire Supply Chain across the portfolio of businesses which includes five distribution centers, three U.S. manufacturing facilities and Asian-based sourcing operations. Joining AmerCareRoyal in 2020, he introduced a formal Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process to the business and most recently launched the company’s Strategic Network Optimization initiative, Project Rubik, realigning the components of the Supply Chain and establishing operating and inventory policies.
Prior to joining AmerCareRoyal, Brett spent 13 years with Godiva Chocolatier as the Vice President, Supply Chain – Americas, leading all aspects of Godiva’s Supply Chain for the Omni-channel business in Retail, Wholesale / FDM and E-Commerce. Prior to Godiva, Brett spent 12 years at Rich Products, a premium frozen food manufacturer holding various leadership positions.

Kevin Carpenter joined The Toro Company as vice president, global operations and integrated supply chain in December 2021 from Carrier Global Corporation. In his new role, he has responsibility for procurement, manufacturing, order services, transportation and logistics.
Carpenter previously served as vice president of operations for Residential and Light Commercial Systems at Carrier and held other leadership positions in the organization including vice president of quality and continuous improvement and vice president of advanced manufacturing. Prior to joining Carrier, Carpenter was vice president of manufacturing services at Rockwell Automation, Inc. He also held earlier engineering and operations roles at General Electric, Magna International, Nexxus Lighting and General Motors/Delphi.
Carpenter holds a Master of Business Administration from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve, a Master of Science in industrial engineering and engineering management from Youngstown State University, a Bachelor of Science in electrical
engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in general engineering, with a minor in mathematics, from Morehouse College. He also completed Finance for Senior Executives at Harvard Business School in 2021 and holds a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Ashland University.

Lora Cecere – In February 2012, I started my own research firm Supply Chain Insights, which is paving new directions in building thought-leading supply chain research. Our research is designed for the early adopter seeking first mover advantage. Prior work experience includes 30 years of diverse supply chain experience. This includes 9 years as an industry analyst with Gartner Group, AMR Research, and Altimeter Group, 15 years as a leader in the building of supply chain software at Manugistics and Descartes Systems Group, and several years as a supply chain practitioner at Procter & Gamble, Kraft/General Foods, Clorox, and Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream (now a division of Nestlé). My first book Bricks Matter was published in December 2012 and now has 15 five-star reviews posted on Amazon.com. I am also the author of the enterprise software blog Supply Chain Shaman. The blog focuses on the use of enterprise applications to drive supply chain excellence. As an enterprise strategist, I focus on the changing face of enterprise technologies.
Education includes B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tennessee and earned an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennslyvania, I have also completed post-graduate work in organizational development from Georgetown University. Certifications include APICS CIRM and CPIM and is a past teacher of effective marketing concepts for software executives in the Pragmatic Marketing program.
I have a true passion for gardening, textiles of all types (quilting, knitting, and weaving), photography and dancing. I also enjoy building my home on a farm in West Virginia.

Deana Denton is a Director of IT (Global Supply Management) for Corning and responsible for Strategy, Innovation, and Digital Roadmap deployment for Corning’s Global Supply Management organization. Her current priority is driving best in class digitalization of Corning’s supply chain, and ensuring all business units evolve and thrive in today’s digitally disruptive environment. In this role she represents Corning’s IT and GSM (Global Supply Management) groups across a variety of
internal and external stakeholders and is leading the charge to optimize performance via building a digitally native and digitally collaborative culture.
Prior to joining Corning in September of 2017, she spent 20 years of managing consulting teams engaged in process design, process re-engineering, as well as ‘IT Solution’ design, development, implementation, and production support. (via EY, Capgemini, & Andersen Consulting) Within that time span, she additionally served as a Global Shared Services IT Leader for Momentive Performance Materials ( a large specialty chemical company), within which she had responsibility for portfolio
management of all corporate strategic initiatives within the ‘Hire to Retire (HR)’, ‘Record to Report (Finance)’, ‘Procure to Pay’, and Legal process streams. She has over 15 years of managing ‘highly complex global’ program investments encompassing SAP/ERP Integration, Organization Change Management, and IT/Business Alignment Components.
Her areas of expertise include: 1) Next Generation eco-systems including digital marketplaces, 2) Supply chain visibility eco-systems, 3) supply chain advanced analytics and continuous intelligence platforms (big data), 4) IT & Business Strategy Alignment, 5) Organization Change Management, and 6) Strategic Technology Roadmap Planning , Assessment, & Execution.. Throughout her career, Deana has partnered with senior executives across a variety of industries to align strategy with process, people, and technology execution, and enable enterprises to achieve growth, cost out, business agility, and remain compliant.
Deana is a proud alum of both The University of Texas – Austin, and the University of California – Berkeley, a proud resident of Brooklyn, New York.

Stephen J. Downey

Mr. Downey is a healthcare expert with a passion for helping the industry treat and serve patients better. His experience includes organizations across the healthcare spectrum, including medical devices, services, GPOs, and health systems. He is a recognized supply chain expert, an in-demand speaker, and well-published author on the subject.
Most recently, Mr. Downey led the Supply Chain Operations business for Vizient, which included those programs that bring operational excellence and efficiency to members. In addition, Mr. Downey oversaw and helped guide development of integrated operational programs for Vizient’s member accounts, helping to advance a world-class organization focused on continuous improvement, metrics, processes, systems, and people.
Mr. Downey joined Vizient from GEODIS, an international supply chain transport, and logistics firm operating in 67 countries around the globe. He served as vice president of the U.S. healthcare vertical, where he drove double-digit growth for healthcare customers in this $9 billion third-party logistics organization, and most recently as senior vice president of the healthcare and consumer electronics vertical, where he led strategy and commercial activities for multimillion-dollar accounts.
Prior to this position, he led commercial and supply chain teams at Integra Life Sciences and he served at Scott Medical Products for 11 years in various commercial and operational roles.
Mr. Downey graduated from Lehigh University with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in management of technology. While there, he was contracted by the university as a contract biomedical engineer for medical device R&D companies. Additionally, he is trained in the FDA’s Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), design controls, Six Sigma, and project administration.
Mr. Downey brings tremendous experience in end-to-end supply chain operations, from manufacturing to patient delivery. He has written several industry articles, most recently “How barcoding and RFID enhance the healthcare supply chain.” He serves as co-chair of the Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation, and is also a board member and president of Friends Health Connection.

John Gradek
Aviation and Aerospace Industry Expert
One of Canada’s foremost subject matter experts in transportation, John Gradek has provided commentary to both print and electronic media on issues ranging from commercial aviation to supply chain management to aircraft manufacture. John has participated in numerous seminars and international conferences to discuss the state of the aviation and aerospace industry, providing insight into the strategic as well as tactical efforts undertaken to deal with changing times and achieve success.
A graduate of the Ivey Business School with a Masters in Business Administration, John Gradek also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from the Universite de Montreal (Loyola College) as well as a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from Carleton University.
John Gradek began his professional career at Air Canada in 1975 in Airport Operations and progressing through management role in Cargo Operations, Marketing Strategy, Passenger Pricing, Operational Audit, Fleet Scheduling and Revenue Management.
In 1993, John joined Canadian Pacific Railway undertaking change leadership roles within Business Process Reengineering. After the consolidation of the railway’s operations and administrative HQ roles in Calgary, John had responsibility for locomotive fleet asset management, followed by leadership roles in railway service design.
In 1999, he joined Synergy Technologies in Calgary as President, leading the commercialization of heavy oil upgrading and the syngas production of ultra-low-sulfur transportation fuels. In 2000, John returned to the transportation domains, working with several consulting firms on asset management mandates in rail and air transport for several North American clients.
In 2007, John embarked on his executive search career, joining Stanton Chase in the Montreal office. His transportation expertise led him to lead several rail and aviation executive assignments across North America and to his participation as Aviation lead in the Transportation and Logistics practice group. In 2017, he joined Dergel Executive Search, a boutique retained executive search firm in Montreal, focusing on supply chain, logistics and transportation assignments for firms across North America.
In 2020, John joined Alexander Hughes in their Montreal office, focusing on supply chain and logistics mandates, and building his relationships in the aviation and aerospace domains to complete executive search mandates for leadership roles.
In 2021, John joined DHR Global as a Partner in their Montreal office.
John is a strong believer in continuous learning, having been involved in both aviation management training with the International Aviation Management Training Institute as well as McGill University’s School of Continuing Studies. He is currently a faculty lecturer and academic program coordinator for the Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations and Aviation Management programs at McGill.
In 2018, John was appointed as a part-time member of the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada for a four-year term. The TATC is a quasi-judicial body whose principal mandate is to hold review and appeal hearings at the request of parties subject to certain administrative actions taken by the Minister of Transport. John’s focus on the Tribunal has been on both rail and aviation matters.

Ryan Inouye is responsible for companywide planning, logistics, the operations center of excellence, and the supply chain talent development program.
During his 20+ years in the storage industry, Ryan has held leadership positions of increasing responsibility in Manufacturing Engineering, Product Management, Operations Strategy, and Supply Chain Management. He has led development teams responsible for new solid-state memory products based on the company’s first multi-state, 3D, and NAND memory technologies, business organizations implementing new processes and systems, and operations initiatives to ramp new factories around the world.

Hannah Kain is President and CEO of ALOM, a supply chain company she founded in 1997. ALOM operates out of 19 global locations to support its Fortune 500 customers in the technology, automotive, medical, financial, and energy sectors.
Hannah was born in Denmark where – in addition to a business and political career – she taught at Copenhagen Business School. Hannah holds three university degrees.
Hannah is a board member of the National Association of Manufacturers and WBEC-Pacific. She is the board chair of How Women Lead–Silicon Valley, serves on the WBENC Forum Leadership Team, the Advisory Council of Heritage Bank of Commerce, and is a member of the Committee of 200 for executive women. She has received numerous industry and leadership awards. Recently Hannah was named an SDCE 2022 Supply Chain Pro to Know and a 2021 WE USA Top WBE CEO. In 2020 she was featured as a Business Insider Top 100 People Transforming Business, recognized as a Top 10 Women in Logistics by Global Trade Magazine, won the SDCE Women Leaders in Supply Chain award,. Prior awards include the WBEC-Pacific Pinnacle Award, Gold Woman of The Year Stevie, Silver Best Global Woman-owned Business Stevie, Top 25 Champion of Diversity in STEM, Manufacturing Institute STEP Ahead Award, YWCA Tribute to Women Award, and induction into the Silicon Valley Capitol Club wall of fame.

Nicole Miara is digital transformer with over 15 years industry and management consulting experience. She ran multiple IBP & S&OP transformation programmes for global and complex retail & manufacturing companies. At LKQ Europe, she runs the company-wide business excellence program.
Together with LKQ Europe, Nicole is part of Project Zebra, an open-source initiative to design outside-in processes for supply chain planning.
Beyond her professional journey, Nicole co-founded Speed up, Buddy NGO, a mentoring platform for first-generation students. She partners with universities and companies to promote diversity and inclusion.
Nicole holds an Executive MBA in Supply Chain Management from ETH Zurich.

Rick McDonald was named Senior Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer in December 2020, where he was also appointed to the Clorox Executive Committee. Serving a vast portfolio of Brita, Burt’s Bees, Clorox, Fresh Step, Glad, Hidden Valley Ranch, Kingsford, Neocell, Pine-Sol, Poett, Rainbow Light, and RenewLife, McDonald oversees all Global Supply Chain activity across 23 countries and almost 6,000 employees.
Before assuming this position, McDonald served in various executive capacities, most recently as Vice President of Global Operations, leading all manufacturing, logistics, planning, engineering, quality assurance, health, safety, environment, and continuous improvement. McDonald was responsible for 4,800 employees in 23 countries and more than 50 plants and distribution centers. In previous roles, he was Vice President of Supply Chain for the International Division, Vice President of Global Logistics, and Vice President of Supply Chain for the Cleaning Division.
With a 30-year tenure with The Clorox Company McDonald also worked in various management and field-based supply chain positions. He was Director of Manufacturing, overseeing the company’s Cleaning Division plants, Director of Distribution Center Operations, Business Planning Manager for the charcoal and
insecticides businesses. He also was a Cleaning Division plant manager and Kingsford charcoal product supply manager. His Clorox career began as a Senior Production Manager.
Prior to joining Clorox, McDonald spent 10 years working for Frito-Lay in numerous line and staff roles in five different manufacturing plants, including production manager of Frito-Lay’s third-largest plant, which supplied an assortment of snacks to the Northeast United States.
McDonald is frequently sought after as a speaker and podcast participant on Supply Chain topics. Most recently he appeared on Supply Chain Now podcasts and live stream, as a panelist for CBA (formerly GMA-FMI), CPA-the Contract Manufacturers Association and the North American Supply Chain Executive Summit.
McDonald has extensive Advisory Board experience including past membership of The Yuhan/Clorox Joint Venture, The Chlorine Institute, The Barbecue Industry Association, where he served as Vice Chairman and the City of Vernon (California) Chamber of Commerce.
An Atlanta native, McDonald holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from Georgia Tech where he also lettered on the baseball team.

Jenny Patzlaff is an experienced cross-functional team leader and 20+ year supply chain veteran. She is currently the Supply Chain Practice Director for the University of Wisconsin-Madison E-Business Consortium (UWEBC), where she develops collaborative learning forums among the nearly 90 member companies in the consortium. Jenny spent 17 years at Target Corporation in various supply chain roles including Inventory Management, International & Domestic Logistics, Global Trade Compliance, Data Product Management, and Supply Chain Program Management. She then moved back to Wisconsin as Director of Strategic Initiatives for RateLinx, a logistics software development company where she helped customers reduce freight costs and improve Ship, Track and Pay data visibility. She returned to her alma mater at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Spring 2021.
Jenny graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BBA in Marketing and a minor in International Business. She is a Six Sigma Green Belt, and
Licensed Customs Broker. She has a passion for data transparency, solving supply chain problems, and promoting a team culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
